Jenni Carter was recognized Feb. 8 for over 15 years of service as director of children’s ministries at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon. A special service and reception were held in her honor. Carter is presently serving as VBS director for Macon Baptist Association as well as traveling throughout the state with the GBC Seminar Leadership Team.
Gene Hughes of South Newport Baptist Church in Townsend was honored and presented his doctorate on Jan. 25 by Charles Williams, president of the Southern Baptist School of Biblical Studies in Jacksonville, Fla. Hughes serves as pastor of the church and was praised for his seven years of intensive study and perseverance.
Paul Melton, pastor of Ohoopee Baptist Church in Tenille, has been inducted into the Theta Alpha Kappa National Honor Society for Religious Studies and Theology. Melton was nominated by the Alpha Delta Epsilon chapter of Mercer University, of which he is a graduate.
Dora Hunter Allison Spiva celebrated 75 years of continuous service to the WMU of Choestoe Baptist Church in Blairsville, of which she is the sole surviving charter member. Spiva also celebrated her 99th birthday on Feb. 10. Over the years she has served as local president, director, divisional vice president, and president of the Notla River Baptist Association WMU. |
