In post-modern America, where a strong church-and-state separation mindset has become the law of the land, the likelihood of a Baptist choir singing Christmas carols in a government building is about as remote as a Ramadan service in city hall. But both events occurred in recent weeks in this middle-Georgia county seat and set a precedent for equal treatment under the law.
At first glance the bundle resting on the bench outside the front doors of New Vision Baptist Church looked like a child’s plaything, perhaps “a doll baby or plastic puppy.”

For 25 years Christmas trees had graced the Seattle Airport, but two years ago a decision was made to remove the trees from the airport. The politically expedient decision was made because a local rabbi threatened to sue the Port of Seattle if an eight-foot menorah wasn’t erected to “balance” out the Christmas trees.
And lo, I awakened from a dream during this most blessed Christmas season.

God gave our family an early Christmas gift. Grace Katherine Millage was born to our daughter Jennifer, and her husband Aaron, in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday afternoon, November 29, at 3:37. She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measured nineteen inches long. Janice and I had the inexpressible joy of being in the birthing room when Gracie was born.
