LifeWay Brazil brings resources to Portuguese-speaking churchesPublished April 14, 2005
NASVILLE, Tenn. (BP) - Nearly four years ago, LifeWay initiated a partnership with the Brazilian company Bom Pastor, and established a division called LifeWay Brazil. A licensing agreement allows LifeWay Brazil to translate into Portuguese materials published by LifeWay Church Resources and Broadman & Holman Publishers for distribution in Latin America. To date, 13 titles have been translated into Portuguese, generating in excess of $100,000 per year in sales. The most popular book has been Henry Blackaby's Experiencing God, which has sold more then 80,000 copies. Other popular titles include Beth Moore's Breaking Free and Gary Smalley's Making Love Last Forever. "There are more born-again Christians in Brazil than in all the rest of Latin America put together," said Jim Cook, vice president of international sales at LifeWay. "There are 40 million Christians in Brazil, and there's not that much [material] available in Portuguese. |
