Retirements

 

On Jan. 30, Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta honored Joyce A. Armstrong with a retirement recognition ceremony. Armstrong served as church secretary for more than 22 years, completing her service on March 15.

 

Ernest and Margie Gordy retired after 46 years of serving in the ministry. Ernest Gordy has pastored Bull Creek Baptist Church in Claxton for the past 25 years. He also served in the Tatnall-Evans and Savannah Baptist Associations.

The church honored the couple with a retirement reception on April 10.

 

Dan Payne retired after more than 22 years as a North American Mission Board endorsed Army Chaplain.

Payne is a graduate of LaGrange College and Southeastern Seminary and has served in military ministry in Georgia, Alabama, New Jersey, Texas, Korea, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq. Previous to his military ministry, Payne held pastorates in Polk-Haralson and Floyd County Baptist Associations.

Currently he and his wife, Jo, reside in LaGrange. He is available for interim, pulpit supply, revivals and special event services. You may contact him by email at dan.payne@us.army.mil.
