NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP) - SBC President Bobby Welch has named the members of the Resolutions Committee who will serve during the June 21-22 Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
Welch, pastor of First Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Fla., appointed Gene Mims, interim pastor of College Heights Baptist Church in Gallatin, Tenn., as committee chairman.
Welch's other appointees, in alphabetical order, are:
- Penna Dexter, radio talk show host and member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, Texas.
- T.C. French, pastor of Jefferson Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, La.
- Gary Ledbetter, editor of the Southern Baptist Texan, Dallas, and member of Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
- Greg Mathis, pastor of Mud Creek Baptist Church, Hendersonville, N.C., and a member of the SBC Executive Committee.
- Jeff Moore, pastor of First Baptist Church, Altus, Okla., and a member of the SBC Executive Committee.
- Barbara O'Chester, member of Great Hills Baptist Church, Austin, Texas.
- Joseph Rogers, pastor of First Baptist Church, White House, Tenn.
- Ida South, retired educator, member of First Baptist Church, Mathiston, Miss., and a member of the SBC Executive Committee.
- David Wilson, pastor of Judson Baptist Church, Nashville, Tenn.
The committee's composition must include at least two members who served the previous year, with Dexter and O'Chester meeting this requirement. Bylaw 20 has long required that the committee include at least three SBC Executive Committee members. This year they are Mathis, Moore and South.
