First Baptist Church in Swainsboro has been celebrating its 130th anniversary over the past several months through several events.

In January, a brief drama portrayed the founding of the church. In February, the church's history was explored through a lecture and field trip to its previous sites. Community appreciation events in April were followed by concerts from former and current members.

Festivities concluded with homecoming activities May 22. Bob Blankenship is pastor.

 

Jill Jenkins celebrated her 10th anniversary as minister to preschool and children at Johns Creek Baptist Church in Alpharetta in May.

 

B. Condred Pirkle celebrated his 50th anniversary in ministry on May 8. Pirkle's ministry experience includes pastoring churches in Texas, North Carolina and Georgia, serving as a vocational evangelist, having several radio ministries, having one literature ministry and participating in Gospel films.

 

Park Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta will celebrate its 135th anniversary with a homecoming celebration on June 5 at 11 a.m. Truett Gannon, former pastor at Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, will preach.
