Joe Straner of Toccoa died at his home April 28. He was 79.

Straner was a Baptist minister for 40 years at numerous north Georgia Baptist churches. A member of Toccoa Falls College, he was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and WWII navy veteran.

Straner is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lois Collins Straner of Toccoa, and daughters Teresa Joy Straner of Lawrenceville and Melody Hope Callahan of Tyrone.
