Former Georgia Baptist writing on BIG thoughtsBy J. Gerald Harris, EditorPublished June 9, 2005
Joey Allen has a missionary's heart and longs to see people come to know Christ in a personal saving relationship. Though a young adult, he has traveled abroad extensively to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and was awarded the Cliff Chandler Graphic Design Scholarship for his creative and artistic abilities. He is currently a student at Dallas Theological Seminary and a member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Joey's missionary journeys' have taken him to Bangladesh, where he served with the International Service Corps of the International Mission Board, but he feels that his work there has not been completed. Joey and his wife, Christy, hope to be appointed as IMB missionaries to Bangladesh after seminary graduation, but the son of Joe Allen, pastor of Cairo's First Baptist Church, is fully engaged in utilizing his gifts and talents as a seminary student. The young seminarian is a gifted writer and illustrator and recently had a four part series of children's books published by New Leaf Press. The series, including books The Trinity, The Scripture, The Mission and The Gospel, is called Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers. The books are well written, beautifully illustrated and attractively bound. This series of books is designed to introduce children ages four to eight to the fundamental teachings about God based on the Bible. The most fundamental teachings of the Christian faith are presented in this four-book set at a level preschool and elementary children can understand. Colorful illustrations compliment every page of orthodox Christian doctrine, creating an enjoyable experience for the child. New Leaf Press proclaims, "In contrast to self-centered theology and watered-down Bible storybooks, the Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers series promotes God-centered theology with simple and precise teaching while offering stability and a strong, lasting connection with the faith." Southern Seminary President Al Mohler in his foreword to the book on The Scripture writes, "Joey Allen has provided a helpful way for parents to teach the truths of God's Word to children ... I am glad to see the profound truth of God's Word and the wonderful transforming truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ presented to children in a way they can understand. The release of these books is good news for parents and good news for children." These books will help parents teach their children fundamental doctrines of the Bible at an early age and plant good seeds that will produce wholesome fruit in the years of adolescence, youth and adulthood. These marvelous books can be secured at Christian bookstores across the country or at amazon.com. |
