Noted women's ministry leader Jaye Martin has been named interim director of women's ministry programs at Southern Seminary.
Martin, who serves as women's evangelism strategist for the North American Mission Board, is a noted speaker and creator of the HeartCall women's evangelism program. She will continue at NAMB in addition to her duties at Southern Seminary.
Alfred Yiu Chuen Kong, president of Hong Kong Seminary, received a doctor of ministry degree from Golden Gate Seminary in late May.
Kong has been president of the Hong Kong seminary since 1995. Established in 1951, Hong Kong Seminary currently enrolls approximately 1,200 students preparing for service to the church.
Kong started his doctor of ministry at Golden Gate in 1992 while pastoring Danville Chinese Baptist Church 30 miles east of San Francisco.
Benjamin Harlan, who served on the New Orleans Seminary faculty from 1989-95, was appointed as professor of church music at the school's June 7 trustees meeting. A respected composer/arranger and experienced music minister, Harlan has taught church music and served as the dean of the school of church music at Southwestern Seminary since 1995.
New Orleans trustees approved the appointment of Baton Rouge extension center director John Robson at their June 7 meeting. He also serves as a chaplain and director of the seminary's undergraduate program at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
Robson has 34 years of Christian ministry experience. For 27 years he pastored churches in Kentucky, Georgia and Louisiana.
