Jordan William “Jake” Holland, Jr. of Savannah died June 19 at Hospice Savannah. He was 75.

Holland held degrees from Mercer University in Macon, Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., University of Louisville, and Emory University in Atlanta. He was a veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis as well as a U.S. Army Chaplain. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1989.

Holland held pastorates at Rosemary Baptist Church in Millen; Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Owenton, Ky.; First Baptist Church in Ghent, Ky.; First Baptist Church in Unadilla, First Baptist Church in Piedmont, Ala.; Wilmington Island Baptist Church in Savannah; First Baptist Church in Lyons and Lawtonville Baptist Church in Estill, S.C.

Holland served on the State Executive Committees for the Kentucky Baptist Convention and the Alabama Baptist Convention. He was listed in Who’s Who in Religion in America and served Brewton-Parker College as a trustee and on the Presidential Search Committee.

Holland retired from Memorial Medical Health University as a staff chaplain in Savannah in 1995. Additionally, Holland served a large number of churches as interim pastor.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane Ingram Holland of Savannah; a son, Jordan William “Joe” Holland, III of Savannah; a daughter, Margaret Rose Keck of Tybee Island; and three grandchildren: Jordan Keck, Rosalie Keck and Randi Holland.
