I just wanted to write in and remind everyone that no church or church member has the market cornered on worship. Worship is about God. It’s not about me or you or hymns or praise songs. It’s all about God and worshipping Him and celebrating the new life we have through Jesus Christ.
For one person or group to say that they know the right way and/or best way to worship God is simply not true. Wherever you fall on this issue, I challenge you to take a look at hymns and praise songs and see that they are both written to praise God. Both types of music are Biblically based.
It all goes back to style and preference. The great thing about all our Georgia Baptist churches is that we are autonomous and we can pick for ourselves what type of music/worship we use. So let’s all try not to criticize one form or another because the ultimate goal is to worship the one true God.
I’m so thankful that God never changes and that He is always the same. But I am glad that I can sing hymns and praise songs to worship Him.
Take a deep breath and repeat after me: “It’s not about me, it’s about God.”
Let’s all try to put our musical preferences behind us and go reach Georgia and the rest of the world for Jesus!
