Ministerial Moves

Sam Barrett resigned as pastor at Wallaceville Baptist Church in Rossville on Aug. 14.

 

LaVonne Bennett began serving as preschool director at Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville on Aug. 15.

 

Eastanollee Baptist Church in Eastanollee recently called Billy Burrell as interim pastor.

 

Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville called John Davis as minister of music on Sept. 1.

 

Eddie Frye has assumed the position of youth minister at Lookout Baptist Church in Chickamauga. He began in August.

 

Green Acres Baptist Church in Smyrna called David Harms as pastor on July 31. Harms served as a medical missionary with the International Mission Board in Honduras and Mexico for 33 years. He is joined by his wife, Joyce.

 

Will D. Hayes, III was called as pastor at The Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church in Riverdale on Sept. 1. He is a graduate of Alabama State University and Morehouse School of Religion, ITC in Atlanta.

 

Josh Hawk was called as para youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah on Aug. 21. He comes to the church from Philadelphia Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala.

 

Friendship Baptist Church in Palmetto recently called Dusty Haynie as bi-vocational pastor. He holds a B.A. in Christianity from Brewton Parker College and is currently a student at McAfee School of Theology.

 

First Baptist Church in Cohutta called Truett Nimmons as pastor on Sept. 11. He will be ordained at First Baptist Dalton Oct. 2 and begin his pastorate in Cohutta Oct. 9.

 

After serving as interim pastor for 10 months, Lakeside Baptist Church in Greensboro called Lee Ross as senior pastor on July 24.

Ross is a graduate of Mercer University with a B.A. in psychology and Southwestern Seminary where he earned a master of divinity degree.

He has served in a variety of staff positions at a number of churches in the South, including a combined 10 years as senior pastor at Crescent Hill Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C. and King Spring Baptist Church in Smyrna.

Ross also served for seven years as a specialist in Leadership Development Ministries at the Georgia Baptist Convention. He is joined by his wife, Barbara.

 

Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Lavonia recently called Leroy Spinks as interim pastor.

 

John W. Waters, senior minister of The Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church in Riverdale, retired Aug. 31.

This past February the church honored him with a month-long celebration of his achievements throughout 42 years of ministry, including more than 25 years spent at The Greater Solid Rock.
