Anniversaries

First Baptist Church in Baxley will celebrate its 125th anniversary Oct. 22-23. Activities will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Contact the church for more information at (912) 367-2738.

 

Keith McLeod will celebrate his 10th anniversary as senior pastor at Boynton Baptist Church in Ringgold on Oct. 13.

 

Steve Davis celebrated his 10th anniversary as pastor at First Baptist Church in Carrollton. The church honored him on Sept. 18.

 

Elsie Rogers celebrated her 20th anniversary as financial secretary at First Baptist Church in Dublin on Sept. 16.

 

James I. "Boe" Stanley recently celebrated 50 years in ministry. Stanley was licensed into the ministry at Zebulon Baptist Church in Eastman in 1955. He is a graduate of East Baptist College (now University) and Southwestern Seminary.

Stanley and his wife, Rosalyn, were appointed as missionaries to the Philippines by the Southern Baptist Convention's Foreign (now International) Mission Board in 1965, where they served more than twenty years.

After resigning as missionaries in 1987, Stanley became director of missions for Rehoboth Baptist Association in central Georgia. Over the next seventeen years he led the association to start more than a dozen churches. Stanley served the association until June 2004. He is currently serving part-time at Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry.

Stanley has also served as first vice president of the Georgia Baptist Convention and was named Georgia Baptist Convention Director of Missions of the Year in 1995.
