Trustees at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas elected David Allen as dean for the seminary’s theology school during their semiannual meeting held April 6.

A native of Rome, Allen was a member of West Rome Baptist Church. It was there that he was licensed to preach in June of 1977 and ordained one year later.

Allen left Rome to attend Criswell College before going on to Southwestern and UT-Arlington graduate school. His parents, Lewis and Suzanne Allen, and brother-in-law and sister, Steve and Beth Taylor, still live in Rome.

Allen will assume his duties in August and will oversee the development of the Southwestern Center for Expository Preaching.
