Family-friendly movies do well at box office, Christian Film and Television Commission finds

(RNS) Researchers have found that the more sex and nudity a movie included, the worse it did at the box office.

In 2003, 78 movies with no sex averaged $37.6 million while 35 movies with extensive, graphic or excessive sex averaged $17.1 million.

In the same year, movies with no nudity averaged $34.6 million while films with full male and/or female nudity averaged $11.8 million.

Movies considered to have a “very strong Christian worldview” topped others in average box office receipts, with a total of more than $77 million, the commission said.
