Donald L. Folsom of Villa Rica was recently honored with a reception commemorating his 70th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his ordination into the ministry. Folsom was ordained at Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church in East Point on February 7, 1954. During the last fifty years, Folsom has pastored or served at: Ways Church, Wrens; Harmony Church, Eatonton; Sanford Memorial Church, Broadnax, Va.; Cool Springs Church, Tate; First Church, Hogansville; First Church, Jackson; and Rainbow Park Church, Decatur. Folsom retired in 1997. From 1981 to 1992 he also served as executive director of the Georgia Baptist Foundation. Folsom was recognized and honored with a plaque of recognition from the Georgia Baptist Convention commemorating his 50th anniversary. The presentation was made by Bobby Boswell, vice president for ministries of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Boswell was ordained by Folsom at First Church of Hogansville in 1965. The Folsom’s live in Villa Rica and are members of First Baptist Church. They have four children: Merrill Folsom of Villa Rica; Alan Folsom of Woodstock; Scott Folsom of Johnson City, Tenn.; and Andrea Folsom Gray of Fairburn. The couple has 10 grandchildren. On April 4 East Athens Baptist Church presented David L. Shelley and family with a plaque and reception in honor of his fifth anniversary as pastor.
Sue Zuber celebrated her 100th birthday March 21. She has been a member of Bogart First Baptist Church since 1910. Her pastor is Ted Tedder. |
