Wiley Drake, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., will be nominated for second vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention this June, according to an announcement by Kentucky pastor Bill Dodson.
Drake “has the kind of guts that Southern Baptists have always loved in their leaders,” Dodson said, “and I think it’s time we recognize that Wiley really does represent a segment of Southern Baptists.”
Jim Sibley, who has served 10 years as coordinator of Jewish ministries with the North American Mission Board, was named March 3 as director of Criswell College’s Pasche Institute of Jewish Studies. He and his wife Kathy previously served as Southern Baptist representatives in Israel for 14 years.
