A Georgia youth minister was killed Feb. 26 in a West Virginia skiing accident while on a youth trip.
Brad Weiser, youth minister at Oak Hill Church in Millen, was the guest speaker for the weekend trip of 34 youth and adults from Millen Baptist Church.
Weiser and two youth from Oak Hill were on the trip with youth from Millen Baptist Church, said Millen youth pastor David Searles.
Weiser was skiing with Searles on an intermediate slope at Winterplace ski resort in Ghent, W.V. when he went off the slope and fell into a 40-foot ravine. He died immediately from head injuries, Searles said.
At the Sunday evening service that day Weiser’s youth group was told of the accident.
“It’s tough. A lot of our youth are hurting,” said Charles Royal, a deacon at Oak Hill.
Weiser, 25, was engaged to be married in August. He was buried in Covington, La., where his parents moved after losing their Chalmette, La., home during the Katrina floods.
