It appears that the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force recommendations adopted by a large percentage of the messengers at the 2010 Convention in Orlando are faithfully being carried out by our agencies.
Former Georgia Baptist pastor Al Gilbert has been named to lead the North American Mission Board's renewed ministry evangelism emphasis. Gilbert, senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC, will lead the initiative, called "Love Loud."
The changes in our country brought about after Sept. 11, 2001 were great. That much is obvious, say Georgia Baptist pastors. What might be a little more muddled is the lasting effects from those changes and whether the country is any stronger spiritually ten years later.

David B. Barrett, founding editor of the World Christian Encyclopedia, a former research consultant with the then-Foreign Mission Board, and a pioneer advocate for people groups still unreached with the Gospel, died Aug. 4 in Richmond, VA after a brief illness. He was 83.
