Ministerial Moves

 

Tom Allen has resigned as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon to accept the pastorate of First Baptist Church in Corbin, Ky. Allen celebrated his fifth year as pastor on Jan. 25, which was also his final day in the Mount Vernon pulpit.

 

Ken Bennett has accepted a call as minister of music and youth at First Baptist Church in Statham. Bennett is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary and has served at churches in Texas, Alabama, and Georgia for the past 13 years. He is joined by his wife, Deborah, and their two children, Katheryn and Jessica.

 

Bob Hines has been called as part-time senior adult mini- ster at Sharon Baptist Church, McDonough. Hines recently graduated from Moody Bible College following his retirement from BellSouth. He has served as a layperson in the senior adult ministry for two years. Hines and his wife, Carolyn, have attended Sharon for more than ten years.

 

Keith McKenzie has been called as interim pastor of Cedar Creek Baptist Church of Hebron Association. McKenzie began his ministry on Jan. 11.

 

First Cliftondale Baptist Church in Atlanta has called Gary Smith as interim associate pastor. Smith graduated from New Orleans Seminary and has a degree in law. He is joined by his wife Ona and family.

 

Wayne Turpin has been called as pastor of Ways Baptist Church in Wrens.

 

Carol Vickers has been called as part-time children’s minister at Sharon Baptist Church, McDonough. She has attended and served as a layperson in the children’s ministry for more than ten years. Vickers and her husband, Jimmy, have two children, Brittany and Faith.

 

Mike Westbrook resigned as pastor of Cedar Creek Baptist Church of Hebron Association to accept the pastorate of Highland View Baptist Church in Port St. Joe, Fla.
