The honor was presented on Oct. 29 at the Annual Housing Georgia Conference sponsored by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The award was in recognition of the Kingdom Builders 2003 project. During a two-week period approximately 500 youth from seven Georgia Baptist churches put in 17,000 hours at more than 40 locations in Cobb County community service projects.
A scholarship fund has been established to honor Truett-McConnell alumnus and retired pastor Gene T. Bowman. The fund, which has already grown to $20,000, was begun to aid young men who desire to serve in the pastorate. Upon establishment of the fund Bowman said "The love of my life has been preaching the Word, and this love was nurtured during my education at Truett-McConnell. I want to see young men prepared for the ministry in the best way possible. |
