Ministerial Moves

 

Bradley D. Brown, Sr., resigned after seven years as pastor of Crestview Baptist Church in Marietta effective at the end of March.

Brown served as an International Mission Board missionary for 37 years to Liberia, West Africa, where he was the first president of The Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary and later was executive director of The Southern Baptist Mission in Liberia.

Brown, who grew up at Crestview, plans to pursue writing, supply preaching, interim pastorates, and special speaking assignments. He can be contacted at (770) 977-6777 or bbrownsr@comcast.net.

 

Jeff Gray resigned as minister of music/education of Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Buford in December to take a position with the North American Mission Board. He began his ministry Jan. 3 as a missionary serving with young adults and college students at Lake Placid Baptist Church in Lake Placid, NY.

 

Tommy Jones resigned as pastor of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church in Macon effective Feb. 28.

 

Kenneth Koon has accepted a call to pastor Concord Baptist Church. He is joined by his wife, Sherry, and their four sons. He began Feb. 10.

 

The Pointe at Providence in Monroe recently restructured its staff. Dave Lemon was named executive associate pastor, Jordan Myers is the new associate pastor of worship, Chas Crockett is the new associate Internet pastor, and Kyle and Anjaly Studdard have accepted the position of directors of student ministry.

 

Larry M. Williams III, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Savannah, retired Jan. 20 after 44 years in ministry. He has been at Immanuel since November 1998.

 

A reception and retirement service for Marcheta Penland was held Feb. 17 at Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring. Penland had served for 25 years as the ministry assistant for Peavine.

 

Sammy Reaves was recently called to be pastor of Clyattville First Baptist Church in Lowndes County.

 

Laura Thompson joined First Baptist Church in Gray Jan. 1 as full-time children’s ministry director. Previously she served as early elementary director, interim preschool director, and preschool ministry assistant at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. while attending Southern Seminary.
