A Christlike wuv

When our four-year-old granddaughter, Sydney, was in her terrible twos, she was getting on her mother’s last nerve. As Pam went after the wooden spoon that signaled a spanking, Sydney looked at her and said, “Mama, wuv is patient; wuv is kind.”

Indeed the apostle Paul went on to say that when he was a child, he spoke, thought, and reasoned as a child. Much too often today, children have to begin to think and reason as grown-ups just to survive.

The Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes has provided a safe, secure environment for children for the past 136 years. Paul tells us that even if he were to give all his possessions to feed the poor but had no love, it would profit him nothing. If our Children’s Homes were merely a place for a child to sleep and eat, they would be of little lasting value but simply a temporary shelter. In fact they are a place where love is found, a place where Jesus lives in the hearts of the house parents and workers.

It is a place where many who have lived there temporarily have received Him as their Savior and Lord permanently. Seeds of love, peace, mercy, gentleness, and kindness have been planted in young hearts and minds. Thank you to those who are planting the seeds of tomorrow ... today.
