Homecomings

 

Boynton Church in Ringgold will celebrate its 119th homecoming/ anniversary on Oct. 26. The Promise quartet from Epworth will be in concert at 9:45 a.m. The morning service will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will be followed by a covered dish lunch in the family center. Central Church in Lawrenceville celebrated its 45th anniversary on Oct. 5.

 

Gum Branch Church in Hinesville celebrated its 165th anniversary on Sept. 28, during which it had a note-burning ceremony. The church paid off its indebtedness toward recent building campaigns. An exploratory team has been appointed to give direction to future building projects. Pastor is Roger W. Wilkins.

 

Northeast Church in Atlanta will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Nov. 2. The morning service will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall. The Anniversary Sunday Choir will be singing an arrangement of Amazing Grace. All individuals interested in singing in the special choir are encouraged to attend a choir practice on Oct. 29 at 730 p.m. or Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m. Brian Wright, Northeast's new pastor, will preach the anniversary sermon. Piney Grove Church in Columbus Association celebrated its 159th homecoming on Oct. 5.

 

South Newport Church in Townsend will observe its annual homecoming on Nov. 2. Pastor Gene Hughes will deliver the message in the 11 a.m. service. Local vocalists will present special music during the service, which will be followed by a time of fellowship. The 183-year-old church is located at the northern end of McIntosh County.
