Upsetting comments regarding Muslims

I have read The Index for about 60 years. I don’t agree with everything, but the letter in the June 3rd issue regarding Muslims is very troubling.

I find it difficult to understand how someone, apparently claiming to be Baptist and Christian, can have so much hatred and arrogance and so few facts.

They fail to realize that each and every American is now in much greater danger of abuse and torture due to the abuses at the Iraqi prison. I offer my sincere apology to all Muslims for the ignorance of these two who call Muslims “stupid”.

Since their remarks endanger us all, and since Muslims out-number us Christians, I hope they accept my apology and overlook the lack of Christian love as demonstrated by their letter.

I guess I am one of those who were so lovingly called “overeducated liberal leftist.” I am educated well-enough to read the Bible and I served 28 years in the Marine Corps, so I must fit their description. I hope very sincerely that they will see the error of their belief or else we as Christians and Americans will have a bleak future.
