NAMB appoints four missionaries with Georgia ties

 

ALPHARETTA – Four missionaries with ties to Georgia have been appointed by the North American Mission Board.

 

Carla J. Clements serves in Dallas, Texas, where she is a Nehemiah Project church planter intern working as part of a church planting team.

Clements, a Georgia native, is a graduate of Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville and New Orleans Seminary. She previously served as a Nehemiah Project intern in Dallas, associational missions/discipleship associate in Thomasville, and church children and youth director.

Earlier she worked as a substitute teacher, small business owner and in a variety of marketing positions for corporations in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. She also has served churches in a variety of leadership roles, including worship leader, Bible study leader and Sunday school teacher.

 

John. E. Jr. and Elizabeth H. Courtney serve in Gotha, Fla., where John is a Nehemiah Project church planter.

Courtney, a Georgia native, is a graduate of Valdosta State University and New Orleans Seminary. He previously served as assistant director of financial affairs for the seminary, and earlier served as youth and children’s minister at First Newark Baptist Church in Thomasville. He also has earlier experience as a resident services coordinator with the Thomasville Housing Authority.

Elizabeth Courtney, also a Georgia native, is a graduate of New Orleans Seminary. She served as administrative assistant for Providence House in New Orleans, and earlier worked as an office manager in Griffin.

The Courtneys have two children: Harley, 2, and John, 1.

 

Rebecca Quinn serves as a Baptist center missionary in Savannah, where she is a house manager for The Living Vine, a Christian maternity home that ministers to women in crisis pregnancies. In her role she teaches the girls life skills such as cooking and cleaning, and provides spiritual guidance and shares her faith as opportunities arise. She was appointed under the US/C-2 program, in which young adults complete two years of missions service in the United States or Canada.

Quinn, who grew up in Chillicothe, Mo., is a graduate of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. She previously worked as a bank teller. She also worked one year as a VISTA volunteer in Chillicothe and as a summer missionary with the Missouri Baptist Convention in Jefferson City.
