Shorter, Truett-McConnell presidents speak on worldviews - Overview

This summer the Board of Trustees of Shorter College approved a new four-year contract for Harold Newman as president. Recognizing the significance of the new contract, The Index interviewed Newman on his vision for the college and views on issues of interest to Georgia Baptists.

Index editor Gerald Harris interviewed new Truett-McConnell president Emir Caner to acquaint Georgia Baptists with his vision for the college and provide some visibility to his personal beliefs and heart-felt convictions. Caner was named the Cleveland school’s eighth president Aug. 8.

Harold Newman recently signed a new four-year contract as president of Shorter College in Rome. The Christian Index interviewed him so that our readers could get an up close and personal view of his vision for the school and his personal convictions as a Georgia Baptist leader.

Shortly after the interview with Newman, Emir Caner was named president of Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland. The Index asked Caner some of the same questions in order to introduce him to Georgia Baptists. Both interviews are intended give our readers an intimate look into the hearts of these two presidents.

The Index has also scheduled an interview with David Smith, president of Brewton-Parker College, which will be published in an upcoming issue.
