Dale Fincher, pastor at Tignall Baptist Church in Wikes County, died June 13 of an apparent heart attack returning from a missions trip in Charleston, S.C. He was 58.

Fincher was driving a van filled with luggage of students and chaperones returning from MissionFuge, said his widow, Kay, at the time of his death. He had slowed down at the time of his death at a roundabout, she said. There was limited damage to the van and no one else was hurt.

A native of Rome, Fincher was a graduate of Brewton-Parker College. In addition to Tignall, he served as pastor at Mt. Alto Baptist in Rome, Mt. Pisgah Baptist in Kibbee, and Pisgah Baptist in Rome.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, son Josh, daughter Lacey, and one grandchild, all of Tignall.
