Ministerial Moves

Bob Chappel has been called as interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Centennial Association.

Jim Hedger recently resigned as minister of music at Lithonia Central Church in Stone Mountain Association.

Ronald McKenzie announced his retirement effective July 12 after more than 40 years in the ministry. McKenzie, who has served as pastor of Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., for the past 33 years, also served previously at Milford Baptist Church in Leary and Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Wrightsville. He is a native of Vidalia.

First Baptist Church in Covington has called Ralph Meaker as minister of education.

Memorial Baptist Church in Sylvania recently honored Pastor Don Scarborough for his nearly-50 years of ministry. Scarborough began at Memorial in his first pastorate before spending the last 17 years in that role at the church.

In between those stints he and his wife, Betty, served at Double Heads Baptist Church in Sylvania, Newington Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant Baptist in Finleyson, Emmanuel Baptist in LaFayette, Second Baptist in Macon, Bethany in Cochran, and Turkey Branch Baptist in Springfield.

Scarborough is currently available for supply and interim pastorates.

Pine View Baptist Church in Centennial Association recently called Ken Shearer as pastor.

Herbert Torbert recently retired after 27 years as pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Centennial Association. Kenneth Evans will serve as interim pastor.

Members of First Baptist Church in Lithonia honored Janie Wells for 50 years as pianist with a reception June 14.
