BETHLEHEM — Jody Hice, pastor of First Baptist Church, launched Let Freedom Ring Ministries five years ago and from a very small beginning it has become a formidable force for truth and justice in American life.

Let Freedom Ring Ministries is the umbrella organization out of which two primary ministries flow, “The Jody Hice Show” and Hope for America Rallies.

Many people will remember when Barrow County was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union over a posted copy of the Ten Commandments in the courthouse. Hice became heavily involved in that situation and Ten Commandments Georgia, Inc. was developed to raise the money needed for the commissioners to fight that legal battle.

The Bethlehem pastor explained, “In the midst of the battle, a local radio station asked if I would give weekly updates regarding the ACLU law suit, which I did. Out of that weekly program, I was eventually asked to do a daily show, which evolved into ‘The Jody Hice Show.’”

Hice’s program was first called “Let Freedom Ring,” with the initial broadcast over WIMO in Winder. Later WRAF in Toccoa picked up the station. “That is when things really started to happen,” Hice reported.

Soon there were a dozen radio stations in five states carrying the program. However, last May the Calvary Satellite Network, consisting of over 400 stations nationwide, picked up the show and took it to another level.

“The program is a cultural voice dedicated to keeping ‘the free exercise of religion’ in the public square,” Hice states, “and America’s Judeo-Christian heritage as mainstream.

“The JHS is a verbal response to the ACLU and other atheist or secular ideologies whose purpose is to forsake our national heritage and eradicate the acknowledgement of God in public.”

The vision statement for “The Jody Hice Show” is to be “a culturally driven voice to the Christian community in America, whereby we will inspire Christ-like involvement from the listening audience to positively change a culture in crisis.” Hice’s intention is to accomplish the stated objective through national radio syndication and regional rallies.

“The program is a cultural voice dedicated to keeping ‘the free exercise of religion’ in the public square,” says Jody Hice, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bethlehem. Cultural as well as political areas are explored to that end on “The Jody Hice Show.”
