Minister's Wellness Retreat to provide free health care

NORMAN PARK — Staff ministers and spouses of Georgia Baptist churches will be provided free health care at the second of two wellness retreats on Oct. 12-14 here.

Attendance at the first retreat, held Sept. 21-23 at Toccoa, doubled last year’s number with more than 70 enrolled.

The three-day event will begin with lunch on Monday and end with breakfast on Wednesday. The retreat – including all meals, lodging, and exams – is provided annually through a grant from the Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation.

The three-day getaway is available to ministers who have no insurance or whose insurance with very high deductibles does not cover preventative care.

Individuals desiring to attend should call the Church-Minister Relations office at the Georgia Baptist Convention at (800) RING-GBC (800-746-4422) to register.

The program, which began three years ago, now includes free dental care. Danny Watters, who oversees the event, said ministers are not restricted to attend the retreat in their geographic area. Ministers anywhere in the state can attend the Norman Park event.
