Ministerial Moves

 

Gene Brock was recently called as pastor or Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church in Ochlocknee.

 

Gerald Colbert recently returned as a church planting consultant for the Georgia Baptist Convention. A ministry veteran of more than 40 years, much of that time dedicated to planting churches, Colbert most recently worked at the North American Mission Board developing missionary training resources.

He will serve as a church planting consultant for eastern Georgia.

 

Central Baptist Church in Augusta Association recently called David Collins as associate/youth pastor.

 

Members of First Baptist Church in Duluth welcomed Mark Hearn as their new pastor March. 7.

Previously, Hearn served as senior pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Indianapolis, which under his leadership grew to be the largest Southern Baptist congregation in the city with 1,700 members. In one seven-year period, 600 new members were added with more than 250 through baptism. The church was also a state leader in giving to the Cooperative Program and Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon offerings.

Prior to his service in Indiana Hearn was pastor of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, serving as first vice-president of the Georgia Baptist Convention in 2001.

 

Terry Lowry recently announced his resignation as director of music and organist at First Baptist Carrollton after nine years of service.

 

First Baptist Church in Sasser has named Donny Nix as pastor. He started Feb. 1.

 

Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville recently called Chris Orr as full-time pastor of Worship and Arts. Orr previously served in full-time itinerant evangelism for 10 years, leading worship at events including SuperWow and the GBC Youth Evangelism Conference.
