Miriam Bowen, wife of former Georgia Association missions director J.R. Bowen, died Aug. 7. She was 102.

Bowen served alongside her husband at 12 rural churches and also at Consolation, Bethel, Daniel, and Piedmont-Okefenokee associations.

She is preceded in death by her son, Jack, as well as her husband and is survived by her son Benny, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.

Former Laurens Association pastor Eddie Hilbun died Aug. 2 at 79 years old.

Hilbun was a Dublin native who served in the Korean Conflict for the U.S. Army. He would later be a Baptist minister for 40 years in addition to working the same amount of time for the city of Dublin. A member of Orianna Baptist Church, he served as pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist, among others, in Laurens Association.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth, and two infant sons. Survivors include his wife Betty, of Soperton; son Ricky, of Soperton; and brothers Bryan and Fred, both of East Dublin.
