Church attendance continues to decline. Offerings decrease, budgets are cut, and offerings decrease even more. Missionaries wait to be sent to a world where the overwhelming majority of people are one heartbeat away from an eternity in Hell. Churches and ministries work less effectively with a reduced staff and a declining number of volunteers.
I have struggled to determine why in a time when the need is so great the response from believers is so apathetic. Billy Graham gave us the answer years ago, but none of us wanted to believe it: 80 percent of those on church roles are lost. Lost people see little need to attend faithfully, give or serve. Someone whose soul is Hell-bound but thinks they are going to make it to Heaven somehow has no motivation to be concerned for others who are lost.
