Honors/Achievements

Kay McWatters, church organist at Hapeville First Baptist Church, will be honored in a special concert at 3 p.m. March 7. The concert by McWatters will commemorate her two decades of service to the church. A reception will follow.

Kenneth Z. Ellison was appointed pastor emeritus on Dec. 28 at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. Ellison served as the first pastor at Eastside from 1961-67 before being called to the mission field in Indonesia with his wife, Mary. He has represented the International Mission Board for the past 32 years.

Since Jeff Witcher accepted a call as senior pastor at First Baptist Church Alpharetta in March 2003, the church has nearly tripled in size.

Witcher has served at churches in Madisonville, Texas; Fort Stockton, Texas; and Lillington, N.C. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary.
