The Open Door

 

The year 1879 was a great year in the history of our nation and the world. That was the year that Thomas A. Edison successfully produced a new concept. It was a high resistance lamp in a very high vacuum, which would burn for hundreds of hours.

We know it by the simple term, “light bulb.” Before that year, folks existed in darkness. Oh, they had wonderful light by day, but after nightfall they had to read and work by the light of torches, lanterns, candles and fireplaces. Can you imagine the incredible transformation Edison’s invention brought to the world?
