Opposes stem cell researchBy Mike Dearing, GriffinPublished November 18, 2004
In the Oct. 21 issue of The Christian Index I was shocked to read the article on page 19 about the use of tissue from aborted fetuses. I believe the two persons from Alabama were much in error or sin to go as far as they did to use the aborted babies' tissue to try and keep their husbands from dying. Now, death is a part of living. We are all going to die, but when people that call themselves Christians go with something that is totally against the Bible, this is further showing that people are turning to their own selfish needs. I'm so sorry these men are ill and there is no cure for this sickness (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease). My prayers are with their families that God will show and give His grace to them in abundance. I can't believe that God told them it was okay for them to use the tissue from precious aborted babies to try and control life. Maybe these babies were going to be aborted regardless, but I believe there should have been more prayer in this matter. I appreciate the Southern Baptist Convention being apposed to the use of fetal tissue and stem cells in research or treatment. Wilbur Newton and Kevin Lyles, my prayers are with you both and your families. Edith Newton, you made a great error in this decision; my prayers are also with you. A reply will be welcomed. |
