Passion is truth

SIR: Since the day that Mel Gibson announced he would be putting the story of Jesus’ last 12 hours on the big screen, controversy has surrounded The Passion of the Christ. Jewish factions have declared that it’s anti-Semitic. Others have said it’s too violent.

After watching The Passion for myself, the only aspect of it to be controversial was that it spoke the truth. To paraphrase Jack Nicholson’s character from another box office hit, some people can’t handle the truth, or at least the truth this movie portrays.

You don’t have to wait for the book to this film – it is already out. This wasn’t a life changing moment for me in my theater seat that night – that moment occurred at Vacation Bible School when I was 7. No, this movie was a reminder and an affirmation.
