Everyone deserves a choiceBy Don Bennett, Sr., LilburnPublished January 20, 2005
Pro-choice advocates vociferously make their argument that a woman has the right of choice, regarding that which affects her body. Most of us agree. She has the right to choose whether or not she will have intimate sexual relationships, to choose her intimate partner or partners, to use contraceptives or be sterilized, to smoke, consume beverage alcohol, illegal drugs or to commit suicide. But the precious little body that is within her when she is pregnant is not her body but another person's body, and she has absolutely no right to have that little body mutilated and murdered. Choices regarding the body of an innocent little baby carry serious responsibilities and have demanding consequences, which cannot be reversed. Quick fixes to difficult situations have both current and eternal consequences. At the turn of the year from 2004 to 2005, the entire world has been shocked by what may be the largest natural disaster since Noah's flood. It is profoundly shocking that one hundred-fifty thousand people, or more, have perished. But to put this into perspective, let us consider the following statistic as we approach the annual date of Roe vs. Wade. Abortionists have heartlessly slaughtered more than forty million precious, innocent American babies since 1973 and the slaughter continues by the thousands every day. The American abortionists operate under the protection of American law. In the whole world, the number of babies destroyed in the womb will probably reach one hundred million - a holocaust of unbelievable proportions. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm139:13,14a). |
