Cedartown pastor rallies churches to 'saturate' Polk County with the gospel

CEDARTOWN, Ga. — In September 2024, Chad Morgan resigned as pastor of New Harmony Baptist Church in Heflin, Ala., and became the pastor of New Harmony in Cedartown. He brought to Georgia his desire to make an impact on the lives of those who need to know of the saving, abundant life Jesus offers to those who will trust him.

Then, in April 2025, Morgan learned that he needed heart bypass surgery. The cardiac surgeons at Emory Hospital recommended robotic surgery, which would result in less pain and fewer restrictions for him after surgery, reduce the possible complications from the procedure and provide a better outcome.

While the New Harmony pastor has still not regained the full measure of his strength and energy, his passion to evangelize his community has not diminished.

Morgan’s desire to evangelize Cedartown and the surrounding area prompted him to connect with “Saturate USA.”  The ministry, whose website says is “dedicated to reaching all 120 million homes in the United States,” offers a full-orbed approach designed to penetrate Cedartown and Polk County with the gospel.

Steve Foster, Evangelism Catalyst for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, connected with Morgan and was impressed by his desire to impact his city and county for Christ, declaring, “Pastor Chad has a passion to reach outside the walls of his church with the gospel.”

Foster added, “Chad is enthusiastic when he talks about reaching Cedartown with the gospel of Jesus. I am praying for a gospel movement across Georgia and that every lost person would hear the good news of salvation.”

Morgan explained, “I contacted the leadership at Saturate USA and discovered that no one had claimed our zip code. That meant that we were eligible to become a partner with the ministry’s effort reach our nation for Christ.”

Saturate USA emphasizes five initiatives to reach the lost:

(1) collaborative prayer

(2) disciple-making

(3) leader health

(4) serve the city

(5) new kingdom initiatives.

The ministry believes it takes a unified church working together in all five areas to see a movement of gospel saturation take place in a city or region. Saturate aims to support the formation of these “Gospel City Movements” and provide tools to equip people in each of these five initiatives.

Saturate USA has hundreds of resources to equip disciple leaders and show them how multiplication has been woven into the fabric of God’s creation. This ministry shows that the same multiplying impulse runs through the story of redemption, and it stresses that “Jesus did not rise from the dead to gather His disciples to stay together and enjoy what they had experienced, but to go and make disciples.”

Morgan has already enlisted 18 churches in his area to become partners in this effort to fulfill the Great Commission. New Harmony has agreed to reach out to 600 homes in their community, and First Baptist Cedartown has made a commitment to touch the lives of people in 1,000 homes. The other 16 churches that are engaged in this effort also have a certain number of homes to visit and evangelize.
