AUGUSTA, Ga. – People are still watching sermons and presentations delivered at the Georgia Baptist Convention’s annual meeting in Augusta earlier this week by tuning into the ACTS2 television streaming service. “It was just that good,” said Scott Smith, communications director for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. “The preaching and the music were world class. Every presentation was riveting, and there was such a spirit of unity over the entire three days that we were together.  Plus, we celebrated our bicentennial. That’s a big draw, too.”

The difference between a northern cook and a southern one is often revealed at the holidays.  I married a man from the South.  He was living in Kentucky at the time but he had roots in Georgia and Florida.  He came from a place of black-eyed peas, savory ham, and cornbread dressing, where a “pig tail in the beans” quite literally meant the tail of a pig in the beans.  (I know because I fished it out once at a family reunion.)

JUNEAU, Alaska (BP) – Members of Rescate Church, the only Hispanic Southern Baptist Church in Alaska, have seen great spiritual fruit in the last couple of years and desire to continue growing their ministry by planting more Hispanic churches throughout the state.
