LOUISVILLE, Ky, — “The task of education, the task of teaching and learning, is an essentially theological task.” With that conviction, President R. Albert Mohler, Jr. set the terms for the Fall Convocation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College, gathering faculty, students, trustees, and guests in Alumni Chapel to consecrate the academic year to the Lord.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College celebrated the beginning of the academic year during its 2026 Fall Convocation on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The service featured an address from President Jason K. Allen, the signing of the institution’s confessional book by four faculty members, the installation of Jared C. Wilson in the Steve and Mary Dighton Endowed Chair of Pastoral Ministry, and the introduction of five new trustees.

Dwain Carter, director of Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, said the response in northwest Indiana was a clear picture of the Cooperative Program at work.

In one Southeast Asian country, missionaries are pursuing a unique group of people through digital engagement: Muslim women. According to Sara Whalen, the missionary leading this online pursuit, the group mostly features young women without children and women whose children are past school age who are more publicly accessible.

Hank and Ruby Greene could see the writing on the wall for their time in their country. The Greenes lived and served among the Deaf in Central Asia for 14 years with the International Mission Board, seeking to make disciples and plant healthy churches for this often-underserved group.

Bible study: True power

Near the end of his third missionary journey, the Apostle Paul wrote this letter around A.D. 57 to the church in Rome. Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus, was a Pharisee. In his zeal for God, he persecuted the followers of Jesus, even holding the cloaks of those who stoned Stephen to death. Then one day on the road to Damascus, he encountered the Lord Jesus Christ, and his life was dramatically changed.

BIRMINGHAM (BP) – Many church calendars tend to mirror the local school system’s. That means this time of year, there may be a new blend of faces in Sunday school, small groups and worship as people get back into a routine. But what about faces in the neighborhood that are missing?

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The 2026 Replant Summit emphasized the spiritual work of renewal as nearly 400 pastors and church leaders gathered from 24 states and 181 churches, making it the largest Replant Summit the North American Mission Board has hosted.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (BP) – Southern Baptist Convention President Willy Rice has announced the formation of a group whose goal is “to help Southern Baptists achieve greater clarity and consensus around historic Baptist convictions, grounded in Scripture, concerning the office of pastor and women serving in ministry.”

For years, International Mission Board missionaries have prayed for God to send workers among the First Nations of Canada. The Lord has answered those prayers. This year, RJ and Elayna Locklear have been commissioned to serve Canada’s First Nations — who are indigenous to the country — in and around Calgary, Alberta.  

GLENCOE, Ky. (KT) – Steve Miller is the painting pastor of Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Owen County. He paints with flair and preaches with fire. First, the painting part. It was a lifelong hobby that he almost lost in 2023.

CLAYTON, Ga. — Camp Pinnacle’s 2026 summer missions focus on Brazil helped hundreds of girls see gospel needs around the world and respond to Christ in their own lives. Karen Pace, a Georgia Baptist Mission Board consultant, reported that 10 girls accepted Christ as Savior, two were baptized, two were called to missions, and a $4,593 missions offering was taken to support Southern Baptist workers in the Amazon region.

MACON, Ga. — New Providence Baptist Church partnered with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board’s Pastor Wellness team to give pastors, ministry leaders, and their families an evening set aside for rest, fellowship, and encouragement on the Ocmulgee River.

FORT WORTH, Texas — From going to local college campuses to traveling to nearby parks or local neighborhoods near campus, there are plenty of opportunities for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary students, faculty, and staff to participate in the Great Commission through Everyday Evangelism events.
