Associate Pastor

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, ROCKMART, GEORGIA JOB OPENING Job Title: Associate Pastor (Full-Time) Church Location/ Description: 311 East Elm Street Rockmart, GA 30153 First Baptist Church (FBC) of Rockmart is in Rockmart, Georgia, a city of approximately 4,400 residents, and is 20 miles south of Rome, Georgia. FBC will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding in 2025. The church employs a full-time senior pastor, full-time office assistant, part-time music director, part-time pianist, part-time organist, part-time weekday preschool director, and three weekday preschool teachers. Overview: The associate pastor’s main and ongoing duty will be to help the church carry out its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Performing this task will involve the associate pastor in various areas of church life. The associate pastor will work closely and collaboratively with the church staff, helping to plan and perform church events, programs, and services. Depending on the church’s needs, the associate pastor might take on specific ministry responsibilities. Currently, the associate pastor’s immediate attention and assistance will be in the area of youth and children’s ministries. Responsibilities: 1. participate in recruiting, equipping, supervising, encouraging, and retaining volunteers for ministry throughout the church; 2. assist in providing pastoral care (including in-office visits, hospital visits, home visits, community outreach) as needed; 3. conduct/lead Bible study on a regular basis; 4. participate in monthly church council meetings; 5. preach in pastor’s absence if necessary; 6. serve as point of contact for the church’s weekday preschool program; 7. any additional duties as assigned by the senior pastor. Qualifications: It is preferable that the associate pastor holds a theological education, such as a seminary degree, to ensure a strong biblical and theological foundation. Pastoral care experience, leadership abilities, capacity to relate to all ages, strong communication skills, and spiritual maturity are also desirable qualities. We need a called individual who can take the initiative to identify, assess, and address areas of need in the church; conceive, articulate, and execute a vision for the area of need; and show willingness to address various areas of church life as needed and/or as directed. The associate pastor will report to the senior pastor. The associate pastor will receive annual evaluations from the Personnel Committee, with the senior pastor in attendance.
