MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — Brewton-Parker Christian University has approved a new policy allowing students to transfer up to 30 semester hours of Technical, Applied, and Workforce Credits toward elective requirements in eligible degree programs. The initiative reflects BPCU's commitment to expanding educational opportunities while maintaining the academic integrity of its biblically centered programs.
The Technical, Applied, and Workforce Credits (TAWC) policy recognizes that valuable college-level learning takes place through a variety of educational pathways. Students who have completed technical, workforce, or applied arts coursework at colleges or universities accredited by a recognized institutional accrediting agency or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may apply qualifying credits toward elective requirements following BPCU's transfer evaluation process.
BPCU believes education should prepare students not only for meaningful careers, but also for lives of faith, leadership, and service. The new policy reflects that commitment by recognizing valuable college-level learning completed through technical and workforce programs while inviting students to continue their educational journey in a biblically centered learning community grounded in academic excellence and biblical truth.
"This policy reflects our commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them move forward toward God's calling on their lives," said Dr. Steven F. Echols, President of BPCU. "Students arrive with different educational experiences, but they all deserve the opportunity to build upon prior college-level learning while receiving the transformational, biblically centered education that prepares graduates for lives of faith, leadership, and service. We are excited to create additional pathways that make a Brewton-Parker Christian University education more accessible without compromising the quality or integrity of our degrees."
Under the policy, up to 30 semester hours of Technical, Applied, and Workforce Credits may be applied toward elective requirements. These credits do not replace upper-level coursework, institutional residency requirements, or other graduation requirements established by BPCU. All transfer credits will be evaluated individually to determine equivalency and applicability to a student's degree program.
Dr. Justin E. Russell, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of BPCU, said the policy reflects BPCU's commitment to helping students continue their educational journey, regardless of where it began.
"We know today's students arrive with a wide range of educational experiences," Russell said. "Many begin earning college credit through technical college dual enrollment programs while still in high school. Others return to college after gaining valuable workforce experience or discovering a new career path. This policy recognizes the value of those college-level accomplishments and provides additional opportunities for students to build on what they've already achieved. We're excited to welcome more students into the biblically centered learning community at Brewton-Parker Christian University, where they can continue growing academically, professionally, and spiritually as they pursue their bachelor's degree."
