MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — Brewton-Parker Christian University will expand its graduate offerings with the launch of a Master of Science in Kinesiology program, set to begin in Fall 2026. This program aims to meet the increasing demands of the region and support opportunities for career progression, offering students advanced study for careers in exercise science, sports medicine, human performance, and rehabilitation.
The M.S. in Kinesiology, approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, is a fully online program designed to prepare graduates for employment in high-demand healthcare and sports-related fields. The exclusively online format accommodates traditional students transitioning directly from undergraduate studies and working professionals seeking to advance their education while maintaining personal and professional commitments. Building upon the foundation established through the existing Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, the program provides a natural pathway for current BPCU students to develop specialized expertise that supports career advancement and long-term professional growth.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to continue expanding graduate education at BPCU that will equip students academically and professionally while preparing highly skilled leaders to make a meaningful impact in kinesiology-related fields throughout our region," said Dr. Steve Echols, President of BPCU.
The 30-credit-hour Master of Science in Kinesiology program, offered through the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, features four specialized tracks: Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Rehabilitation Science, and Biomechanics. Students may choose either a thesis pathway focused on research or an internship pathway that provides practical experience in professional or clinical settings. The program is designed to integrate scientific rigor with a biblically centered worldview, preparing students to become knowledgeable, ethical, and service-oriented professionals.
"The approval of the Master of Science in Kinesiology reflects Brewton-Parker Christian University's commitment to thoughtful academic growth," said Dr. Justin Russell, BPCU Provost. "As our undergraduate programs continue to thrive, we are strategically expanding graduate opportunities that prepare students for meaningful careers and leadership roles. The M.S. in Kinesiology strengthens our portfolio of graduate programs while providing advanced training in a field that continues to experience significant professional demand."
Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue professional certifications through nationally recognized organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, American Council on Exercise, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and American Society of Exercise Physiologists.
Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural cohort beginning in Fall 2026. Prospective students must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and meet the program's admission requirements.
