Georgia, the Peach State, is an amazing place to live and a wonderful place to serve the Lord and proclaim his unconditional love and undeserved grace. However, there are godly people who are faithfully serving the Lord in the largest state east of the mighty Mississippi River who are led by the Spirit to move to other states and nations as ambassadors for Christ.

Greg Davidson will be familiar to many readers of The Christian Index because he served on the staff of several churches in Georgia, including Roswell Street Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. He has also pastored churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. He is currently serving in his thirteenth year as the pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville, California. Vacaville is a city of more than 100,000 residents located in the greater San Francisco Bay area and almost midway between Frisco and Sacramento.

The San Francisco Bay area is known for its influence as a global vanguard for progressive ideas, strong social tolerance, its countercultural inclinations, and its unparalleled diversity.

Davidson is making an impact for good and for God in this beautiful area in our nation, even with its challenges and complex social and political reality. He is a champion for the family and keenly aware that the home is the first institution established by God for the welfare of humanity. An honest recognition of the sanctity of marriage and the home is the foundation of our society. Specifically, the home is nothing less than the very foundation of the church and the nation.

Davidson concluded that a good way to positively celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation would be to emphasize the indisputable value of the family as God designed it from the beginning of creation.

The Trinity pastor has a profound respect for the mayor of the City of Vacaville, the honorable John Carli, and urged him to do something to highlight the value of the traditional family. In response to Davidson’s encouragement and the support of other concerned citizens and Christians, the Mayor crafted a proclamation declaring that July 2026 would be heralded as “Mothers, Fathers, and Traditional Family Appreciation Month.

The following proclamation is worth reading and should encourage other cities and municipalities to consider the endorsement of the traditional family.

PROCLAMATION: MOTHERS, FATHERS, AND TRADITIONAL FAMILY APPRECIATION MONTH

“WHEREAS, strong and stable families are the foundation of a thriving community, providing children and family members with love, guidance, security, encouragement, and support; and

“WHEREAS, the City of Vacaville recognizes and celebrates traditional families in our community, including married mothers and fathers raising biological, adopted, or foster children, whose commitment, sacrifice, and devotion help provide children with loving and stable homes; and

“WHEREAS mothers and fathers each make meaningful and irreplaceable contributions to the lives of their children, nurturing character, confidence, compassion, resilience, and respect for others; and

“WHEREAS, recognizing the importance of family affirms the dignity, value, and contributions of parents and caregivers throughout Vacaville, and inspires our community to invest in the health and stability of families; and WHEREAS, committed marriages, responsible parenthood, and the active involvement of parents and caregivers in the lives of children strengthen family bonds and contribute to the long-term well-being of the Vacaville community; and

“WHEREAS the City of Vacaville is committed to supporting all families in building lives of purpose, connection, and opportunity for the children and loved ones in their care;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Carli, Mayor of the City of Vacaville, on behalf of the Vacaville City Council, do hereby proclaim July 2026 as

"MOTHERS, FATHERS, AND TRADITIONAL FAMILY APPRECIATION MONTH"

in the City of Vacaville, and encourage residents to recognize and support committed marriages, engaged mothers and fathers, responsible parenting, and all those who work to provide children with love, stability, guidance, and opportunity”.

On July 5, 2026, Mayor Carli read the proclamation on behalf of the city of Vacaville. A crowd of over 300 flag-waving, God-loving people from the Trinity Baptist Church, along with others stood in front of the city council, Solano County College Trustees, and Vacaville School Board members to celebrate the public declaration.

Davidson summarized the event by saying, “We love everyone, and we are not angry with anyone, but if America is to survive the next 250 years, we must protect and promote the traditional, biblical family.”
