Once again, we are planning for our annual Christmas prayer tours at the Georgia State Capitol! This is a great opportunity for people to get a closeup look at the Christmas decorations at the State Capitol and participate in a series of prayer tours which are scheduled to start on December 6th.
Last year we were privileged to meet with Governor Brian Kemp during two of the three tours. This year we are hoping once again to meet with the governor. It is always a blessing to see him.
We welcome you to join us! Our prayer tours are designed to give participants the opportunity to be informed about what happens at the Capitol and to pray for those who are making public policy decisions.
As we tour the Capitol, we will stop at various places to pray for God’s leadership over those responsible for governing our state. We will look beyond just the decorations of the season and see the spiritual needs of the elected officials and policymakers who work in the Capitol.
The two-hour tours are set for December 6, 7, and 19 and will begin at 10 a.m. each day. Registration is required and is limited to the first 25 people who sign up for each day.
We will make our way through each of the four floors of the Capitol, stopping at various points along the way. At each stop, we will describe what goes on in the different parts of the Capitol, from the Governor’s Office to the legislative offices and committee rooms to the House and Senate chambers.
At each stop we will provide a time of prayer for Georgia’s legislative leaders as they prepare for the new legislative session that begins in January. Prayer is crucial, because through it we can be reminded that God uses prayer to make a difference in all of our lives.
These tours are not just spiritual but also educational, because it’s vital that Georgia Baptists understand the issues and the processes at play in the Capitol.
We cannot pray effectively for people if we don’t know who they are, or for issues that we don’t know anything about. Through these tours, we will learn about our state leaders and explore the issues they face. This educational component is very important!
Please make plans now to join us for this year’s tours!
