Commentary: Giving Tuesday is about more than just giving

Giving Tuesday isn't about giving, it's about supporting ministry efforts like Camp Pinnacle, that witness to young women around the state, by improving the quality of their facilities. By giving, you can help provide a new bunk bed for someone to experience rest and hear the Gospel during camps and retreats.

Giving can make the difference in the rehabilitation and recovery of a family member or loved one in your local community by providing important, biblically-based resources. Penfield provides a much needed service to those struggling with alcohol and drugs, with a goal to Give Hope After Addiction.

Another outreach opportunity to consider is the Georgia Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries' annual Camp Hawkins, a summer camp specifically designed for children who have special needs. This camp provides parents the opportunity to rejuvenate during the summer. Your gift can provide camper scholarships, specialized equipment, and may assist with camp renovations.

Whether you choose to support one of these Georgia Baptist ministries, your home church, or another organization close to your heart, we encourage you to give with joy.

As the end of the year approaches, we also want to remind you that dropping your charitable gift in your mailbox by December 31 is not early enough this year because it falls on a Sunday. A charitable gift is considered complete on the “date of delivery,” so if you wait until then, your gift will be too late. Preparing your gift early is key to maximizing tax advantages!
