On the evening of June 24, two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela in rapid succession — a 7.2, then a 7.5-magnitude shock moments later, with the epicenter in the Yaracuy region (near San Felipe). Shaking was felt across much of the country, including Caracas, La Guaira, Aragua, and Carabobo.
The quakes are among the strongest to strike Venezuela in over a century, with significant loss of life, widespread building collapses, and a declared national state of emergency. The death toll continues to rise, thousands are injured and remain missing, as search and rescue efforts continue.
When the ground shook, the local church was already there — Venezuelan believers and churches are opening their doors as a refuge of hope and caring for neighbors who’ve lost everything. The National Baptist Convention of Venezuela and local believers are present in these affected communities, have called their churches to serve as a refuge of hope, and have mobilized quickly to assess local needs and respond.
Send Relief is partnering with the National Baptist Convention of Venezuela and trusted local partners to help provide emergency food, safe water, shelter, blankets, hygiene supplies, and medical aid — and to share the hope of Christ.
You do not have to be in Caracas to help carry that weight. You can stand with the believers who are. Your gift can fuel this response.
The best way to help right now is to pray for Venezuela and to give to Send Relief’s International Crisis fund to support the response.
Your generosity helps provide practical help for families affected by disasters while strengthening local churches and believers to minister to their neighbors and offer the Hope of Christ to survivors.

You can help Send Relief bring hope and help by praying for:
• Those who are injured and the families searching for loved ones.
• Those grieving the loss of loved ones in the earthquake.
• Protection over rescue workers as aftershocks continue, and that search-and-rescue efforts would keep finding survivors and getting them the care they need.
• Those displaced by the quakes, whose homes have been damaged or destroyed.
• Venezuelan churches and believers as they serve their communities with compassion and the hope of Christ.
• Wisdom for Send Relief and national leaders as they assess damage and coordinate the response.
• That Send Relief and its partners would bring real help and the life-changing hope of Christ to survivors — and that many would experience the love of Christ through the faithful presence of local churches.
