Georgia Baptist Evangelism Conference to focus on bold statewide gospel effort

ATLANTA — Georgia Baptists will have an opportunity to be encouraged and educated in their evangelism efforts this year at the 2025 Evangelism Conference, set for Monday, Nov. 10, at First Baptist Atlanta. The one-day gathering will coincide with the Georgia Baptist Convention’s annual meeting, and will feature a day of keynote speakers and breakout sessions aimed at equipping pastors and church members to share the gospel effectively.

The event is free and open to all Georgia Baptists, and registration is available now at gbcevangelismconferences.com.

Steve Foster, evangelism catalyst for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, noted the conference reflects a bold vision for statewide gospel impact. “I am praying an audacious prayer for a gospel movement across Georgia where every believer is a trained witness and every lost person receives a gospel witness,” he said.

The inclusion of the conference as part of the schedule for the annual meeting, the theme of which is “Everyone, Everywhere,” is part of the mission board’s wider Evangelism Initiative. “Across Georgia, there are more than seven million people (and climbing) who have not heard the gospel or who have heard but remain disconnected from the hope of salvation,” explained Thomas Hammond, the GBMB’s executive director. “The need for a unified, bold effort to share the gospel has never been more urgent. To fulfill the mandate Christ has given us, we must not only continue our individual efforts but also come together to reach our state as a whole."

The day will begin with breakout sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., offering practical training on everything from leading a child to Christ, to student and senior adult evangelism, to revitalizing churches and using social media as a gospel tool. Leaders from across Georgia, including GBMB strategists and local pastors, will guide the sessions. A pair of special "Lunch & Learn" sessions will focus on engaging men and women with the gospel in simple, practical ways.

This year’s keynote speakers have a proven track record of effective evangelism in their ministries. Jason Britt, lead pastor of Bethlehem Church in Winder, will bring insights from a congregation recognized nationally for its growth and outreach. Bartholomew Orr, senior pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, will share from decades of experience in shepherding a large, multi-generational church with a family atmosphere. Anthony George, senior pastor of First Baptist Atlanta, will challenge attendees with biblical teaching and application to daily life.

Foster said the combination of practical training and inspiring messages makes the conference a vital opportunity for pastors and leaders. “This one-day event is designed for pastors and leaders who believe evangelism matters and want their church to be more effective in reaching people for Christ.”

He concluded, “This is a great way to help prioritize evangelism in your church and to sharpen your passion and strategy in reaching your mission field with the gospel. We’d love to see you there!”
